In this briefing, organised in a post-COP26 context, IEP and ECDPM discussed their latest pieces of research in environment, peace, security and development.
The aim of the meeting was three-fold: first, practical findings aimed to inform and support policy-making in the regions of focus and areas that require resilience-building, such as the North African and Sahelian regions; second, fostering an understanding of the nexus between peace, security and impact from ecological threats; third, discussions on advice and experiences on how to best deal with risk exposure and respond to transboundary climate impacts.
The virtual meeting was attended by representatives from the European Commission’s DG CLIMA, DG NEAR, DG INTPA and EEAS.
Please find here the short presentation, based on the CASCADES project, by Hanne Knaepen.
